Mischief Officer

Ah, young Justen.
Back then, life was carefree—no responsibilities, taxes, or rent to worry about. My thoughts were all over the place, spontaneous and unpredictable. If you spent any time with me, you’d quickly learn to expect the unexpected. My approach? Stand out, be the goat among sheep, always finding a way to grab attention.

I’m originally from Indonesia with Chinese roots, but I still can’t speak Mandarin to this day. It’s a tricky language with way too many words to memorize. Though, at least I know [insert funny Mandarin phrase], which means [insert funny meaning].

Adolescence

Say hello to teenage Justen.
A quirky character, known for his scandalous romantic adventures, eccentric thoughts, and humor that, while sometimes extreme, grew on people over time. It didn’t take long for him to realize he was a people pleaser, quickly figuring out which jokes hit the mark and which didn’t. But once people got to know him, even the edgier jokes found their audience.

This was a time of self-discovery—uncovering talents, a sharp eye for design, and a passion for creativity. It all started with a school mission trip video, followed by a short film competition, freelancing for video projects, and even doing graphic design for school. But, of course, that was back in the school days.

Adulting is ass, but consequential

Say hello to the current version of Justen—mature, reliable, and ready to serve all your needs.

I’ve come to know the joys of paying Canadian taxes and rent, and I’ve learned the importance of accountability and being aware of my surroundings. Funny enough, despite living in Canada for quite some time, I still carry my thick Indonesian accent. I guess it’s one way to keep my heritage alive. :/

Now, I work in public service as a road designer. Although I have a creative background, when it came time to choose a career, I played it safe and went into civil engineering. And here I am. But the love I’ve always had for media communication still holds a special place in my heart.

I still make time for graphic design projects and try to keep my freelancing work consistent. But that’s just the “work” side of things. The truth is, what I really love doesn’t always pay the bills. That’s why, for me, money is just a tool—a means to fund my dream.

And what’s that dream? To retire early and either focus on my family or pursue a career as a professional golfer. Can’t have it all, right? But I’ll definitely need to build a fat war chest to make that dream a reality. Wish me luck, Reddit!
