At the City of Toronto, we design roads with a mission to save lives and create safer streets for everyone—whether they’re older adults, children, cyclists, or pedestrians. Every project prioritizes the well-being of all road users, aiming to reduce accidents and promote accessible, efficient transportation. Our work aligns with the principles of the Vision Zero Road Safety Plan, a citywide initiative that uses data-driven, targeted strategies to address high-risk areas and protect the most vulnerable. While construction can cause traffic slowdowns, these short-term challenges are necessary steps toward a future where traffic-related fatalities and serious injuries are not just reduced but eliminated. Building safer, more inclusive streets is how we ensure life moves forward, with care and consideration for all.
