Privacy & Cookies Policy

This policy explains what personal information justenlau.com (the “Website”) collects, what it stores on your device, and what you can do about it. The Website is run by me, Justen Lauan (“I”, “me”). The short version: the Website has no forms, no accounts and no advertising, and it does not set cookies on your device.

1. Information I collect

When you email me

If you write to hi@justenlau.com or alfie@justenlau.com, I receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you put in the message. I use it only to reply to you and to follow up on what you wrote about. Messages to alfie@justenlau.com are read by Alfie, my assistant in Indonesia, who handles my scheduling and follow-up.

When you visit

The Website is hosted on Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request, in order to deliver the Website and protect it from abuse. I do not use this data to identify you.

I use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read. It does not use cookies, does not track you across other sites, and only gives me aggregated numbers.

I do not collect anything else. There is no contact form, no newsletter signup, no comments and no account to create.

2. Cookies and local storage

Cookies are small files a website places on your device. The public pages of this Website do not set any.

If you switch between light and dark mode, your choice is saved in your browser’s local storage under the name jl-theme so the Website remembers it next time. It stays on your device, is never sent to me, and you can clear it at any time through your browser’s site data settings.

The Website’s private editing area, used only by me, uses cookies to keep me signed in. Visitors never reach it.

3. Sharing and where data is stored

I do not sell, rent or trade personal information. The only parties that handle it are the services the Website and my email run on: Cloudflare for hosting and analytics, and my email provider. These services may store data outside Canada, including in the United States. Emails to alfie@justenlau.com are also accessed from Indonesia.

4. How long I keep it

I keep emails for as long as the conversation is useful, and delete them on request. Cloudflare keeps its technical logs and analytics under its own retention periods.

5. Your rights

You can ask me what personal information I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it. Email hi@justenlau.com and I will reply within 30 days. I handle personal information in line with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). If you are not satisfied with my answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

6. Links to other sites

The Website links to other sites, such as Behance, Notion and the websites of my ventures. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and this one does not cover them.

7. Changes

If what the Website collects changes, I will update this page and the date at the top.
